Coming down

As already mentioned in my last post, I booked 5 nights at Casa Matte before leaving South America. This period was not completely chosen by chance but driven by several factors that impacted my plans for returning to Europe.

For various reasons I definitely wanted to meet „Jaime“ in person before flying back. Yet, you’ve not heard this name, but I can tell you that I had a lot of contact with this guy: in preparation of the journey, at the beginning and various times during my trip. He is a motorcyclist from Rancagua and is owing a BMW 1200 GS Adventure. He did not only provide me with excellent suggestions for routes in Chile, but also helped me in getting ferry tickets, and most importantly in organising new tires for my motorbike somewhere down in the south. It was a real pleasure to meet him for a ride close to Santiago and we had very nice talks:

I used another day to explore a little bit the surrounding of my venue. The Barrio Italia, which is very close by, was highly recommended to me by other guests and I can confirm it’s really worth visiting!

The remaining days I spent with getting a service for the motorbike – I was already 3000 km over the term – and finally dropping the bike at the harbour. Then I went to the airport heading home.

To be very honest, I cannot describe the bunch of feelings I had during the taxi ride … an extraordinary emotional moment!
